Job Description/Duties

A PA is required in the Leeds LS13 area to support Daniel, who has a diagnosis of

Autism, social and communication difficulties in accessing his local community.

He likes to visit the local park to go on walks and travel by public transport.

Daniel has a Carers Card and Metro carer’s bus pass for a carer to accompany

him during his travels. He requires support with instructions for personal care

needs, for example, toileting (supervision) and prompting with dressing. Daniel is

cheerful and energetic and must be looked after every second when outside.

Daniel requires a PA for a total of 6 hours a week which will be worked flexibly on

weekend. The working days can be flexible, however, Daniel likes to have a

routine and therefore punctuality and stability are essential in this role.

Experience working with children and young people is important for Daniel.

Basic knowledge, experience and support strategies of SEN is essential in the

following areas: Thinking, understanding and learning, Speech, language and

communication, Physical and sensory difficulties.

Main duties

Support to source and access interest and hobbies outside the home environment
Support with developing Daniels social and commutation skills (monetary transactions) Supporting the learning of new skills
No personal care however supervision is required

Rate of pay

£9.90 per hour

Holiday Entitlement

You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks each year pro-rata. You will be required to give

at least two weeks' notice for any holiday required so that alternative

arrangements can be made.

Leeds Centre for Integrated Living (Leeds CIL) is a Disabled Peoples User Led Organisation (DPULO) that believes disabled and older people and families with disabled children have the right to an independent life.

We formed in 1998 as a Leeds City Council Adult Social Care business unit employing 20 people. The organisation was co-run by an advisory group of disabled people from Leeds as the Management Committee of the Centre and Adult Social Care (ASC).

In 2009 the Committee made a request to take complete control of the organisation and run it as a user-led, not-for-profit business. A project was carried out to achieve this and Leeds CIL became a social enterprise with the legal status of a Company Limited by Guarantee in April 2011. We are now run by a Management Board of disabled people and have charitable status.

Leeds CIL uses a social model of disability approach to:

Improve quality of life
Remove barriers that restrict choice and control and disable people and their families
Be a centre for excellence on supported living
Influence and affect the processes and policies of local public bodies (council, health etc) on the provision of personal budgets
Support people who need assistance to safely meet their identified needs and personal objectives
Enable disabled people to develop their strengths, abilities, confidence, and skills

Our Independent Living Teams support disabled people of all ages to take control of any help they need with personal care, daily living tasks and getting out and about in their community. This includes supporting people to recruit, manage and pay their own support workers, usually called Personal Assistants (PAs). Employing PAs enables our customers to choose who they want to provide their support and how and when the support is provided, to suit their and their families' lifestyles.

Our customers include individual disabled and older people, parents with disabled children and carers of disabled adults.
