Job Description/Duties

Youth and Community Intern

This internship aims to be a broad introduction to Youth and Community Dance practice, administration and coordination.

 

Location of the job

The job is based at Yorkshire Dance, 3 St Peter’s Square, Leeds, LS9 8AH, with an option for some home working.

 

Scope of the job

 

 Assist with co-ordination, planning and delivery of all aspects of Yorkshire Dance’s Youth and Community programme. §  Assist the Youth and Community Dance Manager on programmes and events including: Yorkshire Dance’s Youth Dance Company, Leaps and Bounds (weekly classes for adults with a disability), FRESH (annual regional youth dance platform) and Saturday Superstars (weekly dance classes for children and young people.) §  Coordinate and administer a range of internal and external meetings and networks.

  • To assist with administrative and marketing duties relating to Youth & Community projects and programmes.

 

General duties applicable to all Yorkshire Dance staff

 

  • To undertake all activities in compliance with Yorkshire Dance’s policies and procedures with particular reference to equality and health and safety
  • To promote the activities, products and values of Yorkshire Dance
  • To participate in the staff review and development scheme, and undertake continued professional development activities as identified

 

Terms and Conditions

 

Salary:                         £9.50 an hour (18,525 per annum)

 

Pension:                      Where eligible, auto-enrolment in company pension scheme

 

Period of contract:      This post is offered on a 12 month fixed-term contract, with the potential to extend for a further 12 months

 

Hours of work:             37.5hrs per week including occasional evening and weekend work

 

Note:                           Yorkshire Dance currently runs a weekly Youth Dance Company on a Wednesday evening between 5.30 – 7pm. We also run a Saturday children’s programme on a regular basis. The applicant is expected to attend the above sessions on some occasions.

 

Annual Leave:             20 days plus statutory holidays (28 days in total) per year

 

Probation period:        3 months

 

Notice period:             1 month
