Job Description/Duties

Job Title: Personal Assistant for Tristan
Hours Per Week: 6 hours per week Saturday to Sunday
Hourly rate: £9.43 per hour
Location: At home in LS18 and in the local community

Tristan is a cheerful and energetic 17 year old, with a good sense of humour. He has a variety of interests, visiting local parks, arts and crafts, walks, and making use of public transport on trains and busses, which he very much enjoys! This will allow him to build his confidence, social and independence skills out of his home.
One of the key roles of the PA would be to support Tristan to grow in confidence when interacting with members of the public and peers. The PA needs to be happy to join in with his playfulness and energy, and be confident in their ability to step back and spot signs that his arousal levels are increasing, and support him to use strategies that help him feel calmer.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable and conscientious with a good sense of humour, they should be happy working on their own and part of a team and willing to go the extra mile. You should be friendly and approachable, sensitive, flexible and fun!

What are the duties?
 Support in accessing the community for fun activities, including museum trips,
parks and travelling on busses and trains
 Spending down-time at home doing independent tasks, like crafts or making art
 Support to source and access interest and hobbies
 Supporting the learning of new skills
 Support Tristan with self-awareness, for example choosing the correct clothing
for the day ahead
 Prompt Tristan to take his medication
Essential Requirements:
 An understanding and previous experience with Autistic Spectrum Condition
 Flexibility towards planned activities
 Patience and tolerance to Tristan’s interests and habits
Any relevant experience will be considered if the skills can be applied to this role.
