We are looking for patient centred people to work on flexible contracts as Facilities Technicians at Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital. We never close, so the hours and shifts available will vary and will be matched as far as possible to your availability.
These roles are offered on a zero hours contract initially with the possibility of permanent work in the longer term. The shifts available are generally either Monday - Friday OR Saturday and Sunday. If you are shortlisted during your interview we will ask for your availability and once you have passed the pre-employment checks we will contact you if a shift pattern is available which matches your preference.
You will be based either on a ward or a public area, ensuring that these are kept in a clean and tidy condition, including public toilets and the routine cleaning of touch points. You will carry out tasks such as replenishing supplies of soaps, gels and emptying bins. You will be responding to requests to clean a hospital bed and the area around it or a side room which will involve cleaning toilets and bathrooms. If you are based on a ward, you will also be supporting existing staff to ensure the patients receive food and drink in a timely and efficient way. This could involve taking food orders and serving food and drinks to patients, washing up and keeping kitchen areas clean and tidy.
The following are essential for you to be successful:
Physically able to spend majority of working time on your feet
Have a good standard of written and spoken English
High standard of personal hygiene
Able to follow strict protocols relating to infection prevention and patient confidentiality
Customer service experience / skills gained from prior employment
You must be able to successfully pass the NHS pre-employment checks which involve references from the past 12 months, right to work and identity verification, occupational health assessment as well as a Disclosure and Barring Service Check. If you are shortlisted you will be asked to submit a copy of official government issued ID (e.g. passport, driving licence, passcard) prior to any interview taking place.
The willingness to work across all areas of the site and an understanding of the need to follow instructions when working around patients who are suspected of or confirmed as having Covd-19
