Job Description/Duties

We have a fantastic opportunity to joining the NHS Digital Workplace team assisting with an IT upgrade/deployment project


The Digital Workplace Team are currently testing WIN 10 and ordering £3M worth of IT equipment to deploy across LTHT.

The deployment will start potentially in March 20 and run throughout the year.

We are looking for:

6-10  IT Technicians, working on small groups based at either Leeds General Infirmary or St James Hospital

Students with a good general understanding of IT and systems (Experience of upgrading software and computer components)

(Previous experience working as an IT technician, IT Support or personal interest in computing would be useful)

Duties will include:

  • Deploy and set up a new WIN 10 PC or laptop. This would include setting up the user at their desk with the support and additional training from the trust IT engineers to get the user fully operational.
  • Upgrade older devices with new RAM and SSD.
  • Upgrade PC and Laptops from WIN 7 to WIN 10.
  • Assist with asset tracking and logistics.
  • Assist with fault remedy and 2nd line support with a trust engineer.
  • There will be manual handling of equipment involved in this role

You will be working with clinicians and non-clinicians in operational areas where potentially there are patients so the applicant will need to be:

  1. Comfortable communicating with multiple persons across the trust.
  2. Have integrity and patience.
  3. Be well mannered and presentable.


Either St James Hospital, Leeds or Leeds General Infirmary


Hours and commitment

10 hours min commitment  (or more per week) depending on availability (shifts would normally be evenings 5pm – 9pm approx. and Saturday mornings).

The project is expected to start in March and continue for 6-8 months so there would be a requirements for you to be available around summer
