To support a young lady with complex PTSD/Type Two Diabetes/disordered eating and chronic back pain
I enjoy baking, shopping in charity shops, learning about spirituality and doing arts and crafts. I like doing lots of activities including visiting the cinema, going to shows and the theatre. I hope to start college in September too!
I am undergoing an autism assessment and due to my conditions, I do not like people invading my personal space without my permission. I become anxious in busy and new places therefore the person supporting me would be aware of this and be mindful of how this affects me. Once I know and trust the support worker, I am bubbly and chatty.
I have complex PTSD, disordered eating and type two diabetes along with chronic back pain. I struggle with keeping my flat tidy and clean due to low self worth, low motivation and the chronic back pain, and therefore will need support with this task. When my C-PTSD is triggered, I may dissociate. This may look like I'm not fully present and am more childlike in my voice and actions. Someone who is open to learning about my triggers and grounding techniques, is required. Regarding my food choices I would not expect the person to comment on these nor my body. I try to be positive about my body and would like my support worker to also celebrate all body types.
I have a very close family unit who are very friendly, kind and supportive.
It is essential for the support worker to be: empathic, kind, reliable, positive, validating, reassuring, responsive, supportive and enthusiastic

Leeds DP and PA Support Hub are a Leeds City Council team supporting individuals in receipt of the Direct Payment package.
Our Independent Living Teams support disabled people of all ages to take control of any help they need with personal care, daily living tasks and getting out and about in their community. This includes supporting people to recruit, manage and pay their own support workers, usually called Personal Assistants (PAs). Employing PAs enables our customers to choose who they want to provide their support and how and when the support is provided, to suit their and their families' lifestyles.
Our customers include individual disabled and older people, parents with disabled children and carers of disabled adults.
Leeds CIL provides a full payroll service to individual employers of Personal Assistants. Their dedicated team of Finance Support Workers currently support over 1,000 individual employers to pay their PAs every month.
