Job Description/Duties

The Digital Education Service is looking to recruit a subject matter expert in the area of artificial intelligence, machine learning, programming (python), big data and cloud computing to support the scoping and development of projects to develop new online and digital learning and teaching provision in this area. This short-term role is available for a subject matter expert with expertise in these areas to undertake research into existing learning and teaching provision, develop programme and module curricula/content plans and contribute to the development of strategic initiatives for new digital education opportunities.


  1. Masters or PhD qualification in Computer Science or closely related discipline;
  2. Expertise and experience in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, programming (python), big data and cloud computing;
  3. Well-developed organisational skills with the proven ability to work flexibly and plan and prioritise work and deliver against demanding deadlines without compromising accuracy;
  4. Experience of using initiative and making useful contributions to projects;
  5. Excellent interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders;
  6. The ability to maintain accurate and detailed records;
  7. Proven skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and PDF;

Excellent attention to detail, editing and proof-reading abilities.

Part-Time: up to 20 hours a week during standard office time (Mon-Fri, 9-5)

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: approximately end of December 2019 (with possibility for extension)
