Role Title: CEES Engagement and Communications Intern (6 months with possible extension)

The Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Studies (CEES) is the home for enterprise education in learning and teaching at the University of Leeds. We are seeking passionate student innovators to play a pivotal role in supporting the dynamic landscape of social media and communications for CEES.

As a CEES Intern, your role is to support the effective running of CEES by assisting the setup and supervision of events, as well as being responsible for communication projects and multi-channel media campaigns that highlight the impact of enterprise education at LUBS, including regularly uploading content and hosting live sessions during our events.

As an intern, you will become an integrated member of the CEES operational team, actively participating in meetings and contributing innovative ideas that will influence the direction of this cutting-edge group. Your role will encompass advocating for student enterprise through leading communication projects and campaigns and facilitating enterprise education co-curricular events.

In addition to helping to advance digital learning, you will serve as an ambassador for CEES, fostering a collaborative environment and connecting with staff and students who share your passion for innovation/entrepreneurship.

To excel in this role, you will need to possess a deep passion and vision for innovative learning. Effective collaboration and networking skills are essential as you build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and good organisational skills are a must. Practical experience in areas like multimedia production, public engagement, arts, design, and social media would be advantageous.

What does the role entail?


1.    Supporting the CEES Administrator with delivery of communication campaigns to improve engagement with enterprise education to students across LUBS and the University, help organise events and develop multi-channel content, as required.
2.    Copywriting, proof-reading and editing content for accuracy, tone of voice and audience and event planning.
3.    Basic project planning, with support from a manager and wider team.
4.    Providing thorough, accurate general support for the team, to gain hands on experience in a range of areas of communications.
5.    Using your initiative to solve straightforward problems, following procedures and seeking further information as required.
6.    Building effective working relationships within the Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and contributing to team decisions where appropriate.
7.    With support from the CEES Administrator, making suggestions on how to improve communications best practices and processes.
8.    Support events organisation and delivery.
9.    Support surveys and focus groups as part of our student engagement strategy.

These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post.


Essential


•    A current University of Leeds undergraduate student in your first, second or penultimate year. 
•    Passion and vision for innovative learning and student opportunity enabled through Enterprise at the University of Leeds.
•    Ability to collaborate effectively, using networking and interpersonal skills to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
•    Good organisational skills, with the ability to work on competing projects.
•    Ability to work with groups and individuals to share complex information and ideas clearly.
•    Excellent written communication skills, as well as strong general communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
•    Be able and willing to assist with organising and running events (including during Open Days and Welcome Week).
•    The ability to organise your work as part of a project, keeping to deadlines and flagging issues or challenges to the CEES Administrator as required.
•    An interest in exploring new methods of communication, including online channels and social platforms.
•    A positive and proactive approach to problem solving and making improvements.
•    Strong IT skills and proficiency in the use of MS Office products, particularly Word and
PowerPoint.

Desirable


•    Practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
o    Enterprise and business development.
o    Public engagement, marketing and communications.
o    Arts, design, creative subjects.
o    Social Media experience in creating and running accounts/pages.
o    Video and multimedia production.
o    An interest in starting your own business as part of your current or future career plans.

Pay : Grade 4 / £13.82/hr

Hours: Up to 15 hours
