Do you have an interest in media relations and have a great eye for detail? The External Comms and Campaigns team is recruiting a student to assist with supporting media engagement and our press office.
The person hired for this position would help compile and distribute the daily press cuts along with ad hoc support in coordinating and managing incoming media requests. This could include liaising with news producers and University researchers, sourcing filming locations, ensuring proper sign off and safety checks, and supervising interviews.
If of interest, there will also be opportunities to observe and develop skills in drafting press releases and media pitches, as well as coordinating external campaigns and media training.
10 hours a week Monday – Friday, roughly 08:30 – 11:30 with flexibility to allow taking up other tasks – such as being present at filming or other development opportunities.
£12.70 an hour. All work can be done from home, but the person hired would be very welcome to come in to the office (Level 14 Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building), particularly on Mondays when the whole team is present. Some optional development activities such as supervising filming crews or accompanying team members to news studios will require on-site working.
The role will run from beginning of February (flexible start date) to 1 July. If you are interested in the role please send a brief expression of interest – highlighting any relevant experience - to Anna Harrison, Head of External Comms & Communications a.harrison@leeds.ac.uk by Monday 20 January.
