First Class Support provides academic support to students in receipt of disabled student allowance (DSA).
Due to recent demand, we are looking to galvanise our team of highly qualified and experienced specialist support staff for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.
Trainee notetakers will be recruited at entry level and must undertake our in-house L3 notetaking course (distant learning course). Once qualified, you will be able to support hearing and visually impaired students.
This role is in Leeds.
You will be responsible to support students who require notes to be taken on their behalf. You will produce an accurate and legible record of the content of lectures, seminars, discussions, off-campus events etc. in the student’s preferred style and format.
Notes should contain pertinent information from the session which may include diagrams and may reference any hand-outs. The notetaker must hand over notes in the agreed format within a specified time frame.
You will be required to use your own equipment to take these notes.
You will be provided with flexible working patterns, and access to a Level 3 CPD Accredited Qualification.
Your Experience:
You will have experience writing notes at a further education/university level, it will be beneficial if you have prior experience working with students with specific learning difficulties or hearing/vision impairment. You will have quick and accurate typing skills.
Training:
You will be provided with Specialist Notetaker Training. After passing this training your hourly salary will increase from £12 an hour to £16 an hour.
