We are Lazy Dog Software Ltd, a Leeds based software startup consisting of Stuart Phillips (Full time mortgage broker) and Mark Spilsbury (Full time Software Director). Answering a need for better technology products in the UK mortgage industry, we developed a tool to calculate maximum loans for all 50 lenders in one go.
We are looking for someone in the early stages of a degree, with a good knowledge of programming, in particular Python, to help us with day to day development of our tool.
The tool itself is a small series of scripts that scrape websites in order to pull back information. We are looking for someone who is comfortable making changes to these scripts when the websites are updated or when a bug is found.
Experience in managing projects isnt essential as clear guidance and briefs will be provided. Knowledge of the UK Mortgage market isnt essential, but will be something you will likely come to understand. A lot of the work will involve being given a particular bug or user problem and you will be expected to be able to implement a fix, test it locally and then hand it over to be pushed to our live environment.
The majority of the tasks are simple and will not involve big changes to the system, they are general housekeeping and something that can be picked up relatively fast.
Work will be varied and can be done from home/uni as and when to fit around your schedule, hewever we have offices in Leeds near the Markets that you can use or where we can meet to discuss things. We are also happy to give you credit toward any portfolio's, CV's, etc that might be useful in the future.
Hours are likely to be lower to begin with, starting at around 5-10 hours a week, but could increase later as we increase user numbers.
