Salary:                  £8.70ph

Do you want to be part of team that represents the University at our major Events including Graduation and Registration?

 

As a member of the Student Events Team you’ll work in a range of different environments assisting with the Graduation and Registration Events. 

 

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals with a strong customer service orientation to undertake interesting and wide-ranging duties.

You will have experience of working independently and proactively as well as working as part of a team.  You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

What does the role entail?

  • As an Events Assistant, general duties will include:
  • Being a representative of the University of Leeds;
  • Helping students find their way around the campus and the city, providing directions, help with using maps;
  • Liaising with other staff including permanent and temporary staff.
  • Working independently or as part of a team at different points during the day.

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, including students, University staff members and some external organisations;
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to complete tasks to agreed deadlines;
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to record information accurately using University systems (full training will be given);
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team yet also with the ability to perform tasks independently;
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with a confident, friendly and professional approach (this can include paid, voluntary or other experience);
  • Ability to deal with people who may be upset, angry or distressed and an understanding of the need to escalate problems to supervisors when appropriate;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and have strong IT skills;
