Job Description/Duties

 

Joblink are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a department of  The University of Leeds

 

 

Do you have experience of managing digital files and using software tools to produce and update documents? Would you like to utilise your excellent digital skills to ensure that content is accessible for all students? If so, we’d like to hear from you!

 

The Digital Education Service has a large portfolio of online courses on a range of platforms, providing online education to learners worldwide. We are committed to ensuring that all of our content is accessible for all learners.

This role will involve the testing and editing of digital documentation used with online learning to ensure assets meet with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines. You will perform accessibility checks on a range existing digital course documents using a combination of automated tools and manual review to identify areas where documentation does not meet the required standard. Where shortfalls exist, you will be responsible for making the necessary updates to documents to ensure compliance with the standard.

You will be provided with training and guidance to support this activity.

Key duties:

  • Following documented processes for checking digital learning assets against a defined standard of accessibility, using both automated tools and manual review against defined criteria;
  • Following documented processes for updating documents to ensure compliance with a defined accessibility standard;
  • Uploading updated documents to learning platforms;
  • Keeping a clear log of assets checked and updated.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • In-depth experience of using the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot issues;
  • A self-managing approach to work, with the ability to prioritise, schedule and balance workloads to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to other team members;

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of the systematic testing and quality assurance of digital products, using either automated and/or manual techniques;
  • An understanding of web accessibility and the WCAG 2.1 AA standard;
  • Experience of using Adobe Acrobat Pro to edit / test documentation;
  • Experience with the Blackboard platform / Ally testing tool;
  • Experience of the FutureLearn / Coursera platforms as an administrator or learner.

Full time / Part time

Start date: July 2022

End date: Sept 2022

Pay: £10.01/hr
