The Peace Museum

The Peace Museum explores the history and the often untold stories of peace, peacemakers, social reform and peace movements. It is unique in that it is the only accredited museum of its kind in the UK.

Since the museum was founded in 1994, we’ve been collecting items which tell the stories of peace in many different forms. Our 16,000 object collection is made up of banners, personal objects, campaign materials and artworks donated by people and organisations all over the world.

Having occupied three small galleries in one of Bradford’s many fine Victorian buildings since its opening 25 years ago, we have recently moved to Salts Mill in Saltaire, a bustling World Heritage Site welcoming many thousands of visitors a year.

The Museum will be reopening to the public in August 2024. Our new space will allow us to display more objects and greatly extend our audience and reach. We are not just moving the museum to a new location, but designing an experience that represents people’s diverse experiences of peace, and engages our visitors in exciting new ways.
