The Finnish School in Leeds offers Finnish language and cultural education for both adults and children in a friendly, informal environment. The children's classes involve various theme-based language learning activities, singing, dancing, games and crafts. Most of the children we teach are bilingual and the School provides an important way to support their Finnish language skills and awareness of their cultural heritage. The adults’ group offers more structured language lessons for anyone wishing to learn Finnish and we seek to cater for all levels, from beginners to more advanced learners.
Once face-to-face teaching is allowed, our classes will run roughly every other Saturday, 10am-12pm, at St Luke's Lutheran Church, 9 Alma Rd, Leeds LS6 2AH. We have two terms: September to December and January to June.
During the classes we run a small café providing Finnish coffee and home baked goods. A couple of times a year we also seek to organise various outdoor based activities, excursions or events for our community.
