Summer Residence Assistant Job Specification Are you staying in Leeds for most of the summer? Would you love to work on campus? Joblink in partnership with the University of Leeds Residential Services are looking for Summer Residence Assistants to join their team this summer. The University provides accommodation for around 8000 students each year at sites on and off campus. As a Residence Assistant you will be based in one, or several of the University Residence sites, working in a team, checking & preparing the accommodation for multiple uses (summer schools, conferences) across the summer, and working closely in a team. Towards the end of the summer the residence teams then have the important tasks of preparing the accommodation again for all the new intake of students and providing a warm welcome once they arrive. It’s not always the easiest of jobs as sometimes there are days where accommodation must be turned around in a matter of hours for different uses. The roles can also be quite repetitive and physically demanding at times. Having said this, we have people return year after year, make great friends, learn new skills and enjoying being part of the Residences team. Further duties include: Support checkout process including rubbish removal and condition check Carry out water hygiene Health & Safety procedures (full training provided) Support Pre-let process to include bed-making and restocking Light cleaning Check condition of rooms and kitchen reporting missing equipment, breakages etc Undertake general office admin duties where required Provide a friendly, warm welcome to new residents and guest throughout the summer Assist with guest check-ins and front house reception duties Basic maintenance Some basic ground maintenance including litter picking Other duties may be required depending on business demands Required to be successful in this role: Lots of energy with a positive attitude and good communication skills Attention to detail Multitasking Please note that some tasks are repetitive and there will be some manual handling of bulky items. Then maybe you could be part of the reserves team. Every year reserves team get called upon at peak periods or if there is extra people required at a residence. Some reserves work the same if not more hours than the core teams Various shifts available including part time and full time 18th June - 29th Sept Holidays & Key Dates are : We ask that holiday requests are kept to a minimum during the summer and any requests ideally pre-booked before the role commences.
